According to the law at present, a man cannot be raped by a woman, and this is just not true, a man can be raped by a woman.
Rape doesn’t mean you are weak just because you were raped, it means you became strong in spite of getting raped, and I would know, I’m a rape survivor.
So, it doesn’t make a man weak if he is raped by a woman, but it does force them to have to be strong as they cannot report their rape, as no law fairly represents them, which in turn means that no help groups or organisations can represent them, as most of our rape crisis representation is for women survivors. Ciswomen survivors at that, as Trans support is even less than support for Cismen.
I believe that male rapists deserve to be punished to the full extent of the law under a fair trial, but I also believe female rapists deserve to be punished to the full extent of the law under a fair trial, but female rapists cannot currently be held to the same standard, as there is no law to fit the crime. The closest we have is “sexual assault”. Under the Sexual Offences (Scotland) Act 2009, this offence may include any non-consensual: penetration that would not meet the definition of rape, sexual touching, any form of sexual activity (whether or not through clothing), ejaculation of semen or emission of urine/saliva onto a person for sexual purposes.
On a recent social media thread concerning men who had been raped by women, there was a resounding amount of stigma shown to survivors. What was evident from the experiences, which included child rape by a female family member and a man being drugged and raped, was that victims weren’t believed or taken seriously, that some were laughed at by their peers (men); and no support was offered.
The closest law we have that covers male rape victims is the Sexual Offences Act 2009, but this doesn’t include rape by women.
