Background Info

I agree with The Christian Institute that sex and relationships education, like all education, is primarily the responsibility of parents. Therefore, parental authority must be obtained, such as through consultation with parents and the parental right of withdrawal from sex education.

Sex education teaching and materials that ignore biblical standards are damaging for young people and have long-term consequences for society as a whole.

Primary school is too early for the kind of sex and relationships education advocated by the sex education lobby. Some of the materials already being recommended for primary schools are completely inappropriate.

Current sex education can often add to the sexualised culture by exposing even children who are protected from inappropriate material by their parents at home to explicit images and discussion topics at school. Even where controversial issues are not raised by the teachers themselves, questions asked by classmates in sex education lessons can expose children to information and discussion beyond what is suitable or age-appropriate.

It is clear from the Christian Institute booklet, ‘Too much, too young’ that sex education materials can very easily contribute to, rather than counteract, sexualisation.

It is my belief that the presence of Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender teaching and sexual pictures in curriculum of secondary and primary schools (including materials that promote homosexuality around the school) due to its cultivation of a new ideology of gender is dangerous in education and formation to girls and boys. The use of Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender teaching and sexual cartoons in schools will induce children to other sexual conduct and promote further identity confusion.

The government is going against the moral value taught in the child’s home by violating human and parental rights.

I have taken previous action to resolve this action, but it has been unsuccessful.

1. I have sent letters and had a meeting with a head teacher of a secondary school. But the proposed action has been rejected. I advised the head teacher that there are better and more sensible posters that can be placed which I believe would reduce children’s exposure to homosexuality in schools. Although, I was advised that children can be excluded from sexual education class the whole school posters expose this type is sexuality. They argue that they are wanting to welcome children in LGBT sector, but there far better posters for children that are in this state of confusion. There are approximately 9 posters in the entrance about homosexuality, and yet say is about welcoming. This approach can also fall under sectarianism. As not only LGBT students need to feel welcomed.
2. I am aware even if children are excluded from sexual education classes, in science class children are shown sexual cartoons.
3. Made a complaint to Education Scotland and was responded with a letter saying:” Education Scotland does not have a remit to investigate individual concerns of this nature”
4. Made a complaint to my local authority and are still waiting to see their response
5. Written to Scottish Public Services Ombudsman (SPSO), no response.
