Speak a Little Gaelic / Write a Little Gaelic

Abair Beagan (Speak a Little) is a new publication which contains some simple Gaelic phrases, terms of address and useful parliamentary terminology

The leaflet has been designed to support non-speakers who are interested in using a few words of Gaelic when welcoming people to the Parliament or when speaking at meetings; for instance it contains guidance on pronouncing Gaelic names like Comhairle nan Eilean Siar (the official name of the council for the Western Isles) or Na h-Eileanan an Iar (the official name for the Western Isles constituencies).

We have also produced Sgrìobh Beagan [skreev bek-an] ‘Write a Little’ - which contains simple Gaelic phases that can be used in letters, cards and correspondence such as dates, greetings and sign-offs.
