Focus on housing for Parliament Day committee visit to Dumbarton

Do you want to know more about what the Parliament is doing to tackle poor conditions in the private rented housing sector? Or how landlords allocate social housing and tackle anti-social behaviour?  Do you agree with the Scottish Government’s proposal to end tenants’ right to buy social houses?

The Scottish Parliament’s Infrastructure and Capital Investment Committee will be hearing from Dumbarton residents on these topics and more next week when it meets in the Burgh Hall. These are all matters covered by the Housing (Scotland) Bill and the Scottish Parliament would like to know whether the Bill will address the housing priorities of those who live in our communities.

On Monday 24 February, local tenants’ group representatives and housing associations will meet the Committee to hold informal discussions. The MSPs will also meet senior modern studies students from Dumbarton Academy and Councillors and staff from West Dunbartonshire Council.

At 6pm, the formal Committee meeting will begin, when representatives of tenants’ group networks from across Scotland and citizens’ advice agencies will be giving evidence to the Committee on the Housing (Scotland) Bill.

At the end of the formal meeting, members of the public will be able to ask the Committee questions about the Housing (Scotland) Bill and how the Parliament looks at legislation. So if you have a question you want an answer to, why not get in touch?
