Finance Committee meet in Dundee

30/11/2007

Dundonians will have an opportunity to see the decision-makers being scrutinised on how the Scottish Budget is spent when the Scottish Parliament’s Finance Committee visits Discovery Point, Dundee on Monday 10 December.

As part of the Scottish Parliament’s commitment to engaging with the Scottish public, the Finance Committee is inviting local people to attend the Committee meeting and witness a Parliamentary Committee in action as they question John Swinney, Cabinet Secretary for Finance and Sustainable Growth.

To book tickets for the meeting please call Visitor Services on 0131 348 5200.

The meeting is taking place as part of the Finance Committee’s remit to scrutinise the Scottish Government’s Draft Budget which was published on 14 November this year. Workshops will be held in the morning to give local groups and organisations the opportunity to give their opinion on the Draft Budget as it affects local issues. These views will then inform part of the Finance Committee’s evidence session with John Swinney at 2pm.

Committee Convener, Andrew Welsh MSP said:

"The Committee is looking forward to taking its scrutiny of the budget to Dundee. The meeting will provide an excellent opportunity for local people to engage with the Parliament and the budget process.”
