Govanhill

Purpose of the group

The purpose of the Group will be to bring together elected members from all political parties, local residents and agencies working in and around the Govanhill area of Glasgow to explore solutions to housing, crime and anti-social behaviour, inequality and poverty, social integration and cleansing and environmental issues. 

It recognises that Govanhill has unique policy challenges that may need a different approach to national strategies. It will seek to develop work plans and strategies to improve the area of Govanhill.  The group’s purpose will be to inform Parliament of the work that it does in the hope of securing the necessary policy commitments.
