    Call for evidence on bottle deposit scheme

    The Environment, Climate Change and Land Reform Committee has launched a call for evidence to find out what barriers might prevent people from taking part in a proposed bottle deposit scheme.

    This scheme will see a 20p deposit applied to drinks packaged in certain single use containers. This deposit could then be reclaimed by consumers by returning the containers to retailers.

    Review of senior phase of education needed

    A report from the Education and Skills committee has recommended that a review of the senior phase of curriculum for excellence is needed to ensure that pupil aspirations are being met and that breadth of opportunity remains a cornerstone of Scottish education.

    This comes following an inquiry which looked into whether or not the number of subject choices to pupils had narrowed.
