Enigmatic letter about William Wallace will be displayed at the Scottish Parliament
Visitors will have the chance to see a 700 year old letter linked to Sir William Wallace in an exhibition at the Parliament this August.
In the letter, King Philip of France asks his agents to help Wallace in business with the Pope.
Uncovered in the Tower of London in the 1830s, the letter still provokes discussion among historians as to what Wallace’s business with the Pope might have been.
The letter, part of the collections of the National Archives, is being loaned to the National Records of Scotland, and will be on display to the public at the Scottish Parliament 10 – 31 August 2012.
