The Diversity Staff Networks are a valuable resource in our workplace and add significant value to our organisation and staff. Participating in these will deliver wider organisational benefits, creating an inclusive, productive environment and supportive workplace for all.
The Scottish Parliament currently has seven diversity staff networks. Staff networks are open to all staff and form an important role in improving the way we work. Networks are led by interested members of staff and seek to offer peer support to colleagues. They are a good source of information about the challenges in the workplace and will help us build a better picture of the needs and expectations of diverse communities who want to work, visit or engage with the Parliament.
Each network meets regularly and has its own remit, roles and forward work plan. Two Chairs from the networks sit on the Diversity and Inclusion Board (Chaired by Susan Duffy) where issues can be addressed at a higher level.
Additional time is supported for Chairs and people with a more active role in any of the networks. They will be encouraged to discuss their involvement during their regular conversations with their line manager in advance of taking up any formal role.
