Constitutional Issues Board

Remit: The remit of the Board is to ensure that the Parliament anticipates, plans for and develops its scrutiny role in relation to constitutional developments; in particular, that its interests are represented and that it has capacity to undertake its scrutiny function, by:

  • supporting and influencing participation in legislative and inter-governmental developments and the domestic agenda arising from the UK’s withdrawal from the EU, and contingency planning in relation to new constitutional arrangements;
  • monitoring implementation of new powers;
  • monitoring other factors, such as possible referendums;
  • supporting the implementation of current proposals for parliamentary reform.
