In April 2021, we replaced our public petitions system. All petitions currently under consideration by the Scottish Parliament can be found here .
On this page, you can search and view all petitions considered by the Scottish Parliament before May 2021.
To find petitions closed prior to September 2011, please use our archive.
How to search
Each petition is assigned a petition number, which consists of “PE” followed by five digits (e.g. PE01111). You can search for petitions using the petition number or key words relevant to the petition (e.g. school bus safety).
How to Filter
Our search facilities also enable you to filter your search by a petition’s subject category (e.g. health, transport, environment etc.); the name of the petitioner (e.g. Jane Citizen); or by the petition’s status.
A petition on this site will have one of two status options:
- “Lodged” petitions are those under consideration by the Public Petitions Committee. To view a chronology of the Committee’s consideration of a petition, read the ‘petition history’ on the petition’s webpage.
- "Closed" petitions are those no longer under consideration.
The status of petitions on our new system
We have changed the status options for petitions on our new system. From April 2021, petitions will have one of the following status options:
- collecting signatures - if you can sign them to show your support
- under consideration - when the Parliament is looking at them
- closed - when the Parliament has finished considering them
