The Subordinate Legislation Committee has today published its annual report. The report sets out the Committee’s scrutiny of instruments in the last parliamentary year as well as detailing the Committee’s efforts to improve the quality of secondary legislation.
Convener of the Subordinate Legislation Committee Nigel Don MSP said:
“The Subordinate Legislation Committee may not be the most high profile Committee in the Parliament. However, the Committee has a critical role to play in scrutinising and ultimately driving improvement in the quality of secondary legislation.
"It has a responsibility for scrutinising all subordinate legislation from instruments about prison rules to instruments about wildlife. This report demonstrates the Committee’s efforts to drive that improvement in secondary legislation and ultimately make it more accessible to those that the legislation affects.”
