European structural funds have brought many social and economic benefits to Scotland, delivering infrastructure projects such as roads and bridges and empowering employment and development support in both rural and urban areas.
Against the backdrop of the Eurozone crisis, the importance of the structural fund programme, which will commence in 2014, is significantly increased.
The European and External Relations Committee’s inquiry report, which is published today, examines the factors which have encouraged or discouraged Scottish stakeholders and businesses from engaging with the structural funds, and makes suggestions to resolve particular issues.
