Members of the public will have the opportunity to pose questions to the Czech Ambassador to the UK, His Excellency Jan Winkler, during an event at the Scottish Parliament on Thursday 12 February.

The Ambassador will be welcomed by the European and External Relations Committee and will give a public address setting out the priorities of the current Czech presidency of the European Union.

During the visit, the Ambassador will meet Presiding Officer Alex Fergusson and Linda Fabiani MSP, as well as representatives from other political parties, before giving an address in Committee Room 2.

Irene Oldfather MSP, Convener of the European and External Relations Committee, said: “We welcome the visit by Czech Ambassador His Excellency Jan Winkler to the Scottish Parliament and value the opportunity to hear about the priorities of the Czech Republic during its presidency of the European Union.

"The Czech presidency of the EU is focussing on three key areas of priority – economy, energy and also the European Union in a global context. His Excellency will elaborate on these key areas in his address and this will be followed by a valuable question-and-answer session.”
