Calling on the Scottish Parliament to urge the Scottish Government to raise public awareness of harder to treat childhood cancers and to provide additional  funding to finding cures.

13 January 2021: The Committee agreed to close the petition under Rule 15.7 of Standing Orders on the basis that the Scottish Government will publish its new Cancer Plan for Children and Young People imminently; has provided updated information to raise awareness of childhood cancers including in the Personal Child Health Record, the Parent Club and Ready Steady Baby; and the latest Clinical Review of the Detect Cancer Early Programme focused on eight pathways including children, teenagers and young adults. It is vital Governments fund research to help our most vulnerable cancer patients-the children. My thoughts are with all families who have suffered.

More awareness and a cure for DIPG

My Grandson died from DIPG it is no Rare it is heartbreaking and every child that is diagnosed with this suffers its inhumane and a disgrace that nothing has changed in over 60 years to treat DIPG . It has a huge impact on family having to watch their child die .

a family member was diagnosed when they were 9 years old, after at least 5 years of going to GPs and other medical professionals for clinical analysis. There were only correctly diagnosed because I ORGANIZED AND PAID myself for a private MRI scan. The NHS system did not see the need for a scan. I think this decision was driven by cost and poor understanding of symptoms and risks. More effective use of existing equipment and professionals could save lives - and could also save the NHS some money avoiding complex long term care. I support this petition.

As the diagnosis rate of childhood cancer increases, the number of drugs available to treat children remains at two. Children are being treated with drugs designed for adults. You are not only saving children in your country, you are saving children globally. Regards, Valerie Loveys Canada
