Calling on the Scottish Parliament to urge the Scottish Government to make funding available for Scottish universities to compensate paying university students for lost class time and a lower quality of education as a result of staff strikes and the COVID-19 crisis.

10 September 2020: The Committee agreed to write to the Minister for Further Education, Higher Education and Science and the Scottish Public Service Ombudsman. Official Report of Meeting 10 September 2020

9 December 2020: The Committee agreed to close the petition under Rule 15.7 of Standing Orders on the basis that there are mechanisms in place for universities to request additional funds from the Scottish Funding Council and the Scottish Government should they decide to compensate students; and that the Committee is confident the issues raised by this petition will continue to be scrutinised by other areas of Parliament. With COVID 19 and Strike action this semester alone, I lost approx 7-8 weeks of teaching. Additionally, as an international student, even after classes and exams were cancelled, I was required to continue to make payments last month and this month (around £2000), despite no assignments, classes, lectures or new material.

As an English Student at Dundee, I'm paying 9.25k. Education is a service I pay for, yet I'm not recieving any service. Scottish and EU students do not pay any fees. It is completly unfair and is taking advantage of RUK and International students by not providing them with an adequate product.

With Covid-19 and strike action - this semester and last - I have had approximately 8 weeks worth of classes out of 22. £6500 for that.
