PE01779: Reducing the risk of ovarian cancer

I work in a hospice and see women with young families die of this horrible disease, if we can do anything to prevent it we should.

I have endometriosis and wasn't aware of the link or the blood test. I would strongly advocate for women being offered the CA125 blood test when they are diagnosed with conditions like endometriosis that raises the risk of ovarian cancer. Its a hard to detect cancer without any form test and early detection is crucial for better prognosis and treatment.

I urge Parliament to screen for early detection of Ovarian cancer by a simple CA 125 blood test. This could reduce suffering and save lives.

I have had endometroid ovarian carcinoma but did not even have endometriosis. I do think women are not that aware of the variety of symptoms that can indicate the need for checking the ovaries.

I have personally experienced bloating and advised my GP of this and the fact that a family member had ovarian cancer. Despite this information being disclosed I still was not offered a CA125 Blood test. I do think that the Scottish Govt could do more
