Calling on the Scottish Parliament to urge the Scottish Government to conduct a review of the Fire (Scotland) Act 2005 and the Fire (Additional Function) (Scotland) Order 2005 to ensure full compliance with Article 2 of the European Convention on Human Rights, the Human Rights Act 1998 and the Scotland Act 1998.

16 January 2020: The Committee agreed to write to the Scottish Government and the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service. Link to Official Report of Meeting 16 January 2020. 

10 September 2020: The Committee agreed to close the petition under Rule 15.7 of Standing Orders on the basis that the Scottish Government and the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service refute all aspects of the petition, stating that the relevant legislation is compliant with the European Convention of Human Rights.
