Calling on the Scottish Parliament to urge the Scottish Government to conduct an immediate review into the provision of insulin pump therapy (CSII) in Scotland in order to address the low and inequitable access across the country.

1 November 2011: The Committee took evidence from Jane-Claire Judson, National Director and Stephen Fyfe, Media and Communications Officer, Diabetes UK Scotland and Dorothy Farquharson. The Committee agreed to write to the Scottish Government and a selection of NHS boards (Fife, Tayside, Ayrshire and Arran, Greater Glasgow and Clyde, Western Isles and Shetland) seeking responses to points raised in the petition and during the discussion. Link to Official Report 1 November 2011 (442KB pdf)

26 June 2012: The Committee agreed to write to the Scottish Government and consider the petition again once the Boards’ action plans and the first of the quarterly reports by the Scottish Diabetes Group are available. 8 January 2013: The Committee agreed to write to the Scottish Government and some NHS Boards. The Committee also agreed to invite NHS Western Isles and NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde to give evidence at the meeting to be held in Stornoway in March 2013. 15 March 2013: The Committee took evidence from Dr James Ward, Medical Director, NHS Western Isles and Rev Hugh Maurice Stewart, Minister, Charge of Lochs-in-Bernera linked with Uig. The Committee agreed to write to the Scottish Government and invite the Cabinet Secretary for Health and Wellbeing to give evidence at a future meeting.
