Calling on the Scottish Parliament to urge the Scottish Government to (1) provide appropriate support and training to school staff to ensure that all schools create and implement a policy to support school pupils with asthma; (2) implement a set of consistent national standards for asthma services in schools; (3) increase the number of school nurses trained to treat asthma; and (4) ensure that school inspections measure the performance of schools in supporting children with asthma.

20 September 2011: The Committee agreed to close the petition under Rule 15.7 on the grounds that as the mutual benefit in working together had been recognised and agreement reached on a way forward, the Scottish Government and Asthma Scotland should now work together to progress the issues. Link to Official Report of 20 September 2011
