Calling on the Scottish Parliament to urge the Scottish Government to ensure that greater consideration is given to the problems of noise and vibration generated by increasing levels of heavy freight on the rail network, and to consider what action can be taken to encourage freight operators to use more ‘track friendly’ rolling stock.

The Committee agreed to write to Transport Scotland, Clackmannanshire Council and Network Rail seeking responses to points raised during the discussion. 29 November 2011: The Committee agreed to close the petition under Rule 15.7 on the grounds that Transport Scotland has confirmed that work is underway with the UK Government to progress the formal introduction of the Noise Insulation (Scotland) Regulations and also in the absence of any recent communication from the petitioner it is assumed the petitioner is content. Link to Official Report 29 November 2011
