Calling on the Scottish Parliament to urge the Scottish Government to through Scottish Planning Policies and Planning Advice Notes to establish a geodiversity duty which integrates all necessary local and national structures for the efficient collection, analysis and sharing of geodiversity data to inform better decision making processes.

4 October 2011: The Committee agreed to close the petition under Rule 15.7 on the grounds that the joint study by Scottish Natural Heritage and the British Geological Survey concluded that a Geodiversity Duty should not be regarded as essential for the development and implementation of a geodiversity framework and that the Scottish Government is now working with the Scottish Geodiversity Forum, of which the petitioner is Vice-Chair, to take forward the issues highlighted in the joint study.
